These juicy turkey meatballs are easy to make and taste delicious

Turkey meatballs are a delicious and easy-to-make option for a quick healthy meal. The ground turkey is combined with bread crumbs, onion, mayonnaise, egg, and spices then formed into balls and air fried to perfection. The result is a moist, juicy, flavorful meatball that can be served alone or with a sauce. Air fryer turkey meatballs are a healthy alternative to traditional beef or pork meatballs, a good source of protein, and are also lower in calories and fat. Whether you’re serving them for dinner or as an appetizer, these meatballs are sure to please. There are many different ways to cook meatballs, but one of the easiest methods is to use an air fryer. Air fryers are designed to cook food quickly and evenly, and cut your cooking time in half. This recipe is easy, quick (ready under 15 minutes), healthy and perfect for meal prepping. It can be made gluten-free if you swap the breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.

What you will need

To make these succulent air fryer turkey meatballs, you will need the following ingredients Ground turkey: also known as turkey mince in the UK: I used 7% fat Onion Garlic granules Large egg Italian seasoning Panko breadcrumbs Freshly grated parmesan cheese Mayonnaise: The mayonnaise helps to keep the meatballs moist Fresh parsley to serve salt and pepper

How to make air fryer turkey meatballs

Gather the ingredients and finely chop the onions (I used a chopper for better consistency) In a large bowl add ground turkey, chopped onions, garlic granules, egg, Italian seasoning, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper, and mix to combine using your hands. Preheat the air fryer to 180C/360F for 3-5 minutes. Using a small ice cream scoop, divide the mix into 12-16 places. Roll the mix into meatballs and place on a plate until you have exhausted the lot. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil, and arrange the meatballs in the basket in a single layer. Cook the turkey meatballs until golden brown on the outside for 10-12 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165F/74C shaking the air fryer basket halfway through the cooking time. Serve as it is with any dipping sauce of your choice (I love this marinara dipping sauce) or in a tomato sauce with some spaghetti.

How to store

These meatballs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, simply place them back in the air fryer at 180C/360F for 5 minutes until heated through. You can also reheat them in the microwave or in the oven.

Tips

Make sure to divide the meatballs into similar sizes so they cook evenly

Swap parmesan cheese for mozzarella or any other cheese of choice

Please check on your meatballs periodically as cooking times may vary depending on the air fryer model. This will help prevent overcooking or undercooking the meatballs.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can cook these in the oven at 200C/400F for 20 minutes or until cooked through

Double or triple the recipe as needed, in this case, cook the meatballs in batches.
