One of the vegetables that I have successfully been able to serve my family is broccoli and I couldn’t be more grateful for it especially since it is easy and quick to make. My children prefer steamed broccoli to the roasted version. One thing my daughter said is she likes how juicy and vibrant the colour is even after cooking it. I couldn’t argue with her, it is true, steamed broccoli when not overcooked retains its vibrant colour and crunchy to bite. Other ways they love eating broccoli is when I use it to make this creamy broccoli soup or added to pasta dishes.

Instant Pot Broccoli Recipe

Since I joined the electric pressure cooker wagon, I haven’t made steamed broccoli any other way. Making this vegetable in the pressure cooker only takes zero minutes and it very convenient. In fact, if I want to take things up a notch, after steaming the broccoli, I season it then toss in some melted butter or olive oil and grill/broil for another 5 minutes (flipping in between). It comes out perfect at all times and super delicious too. Broccoli is fully packed with vitamins and minerals. It is good for the bones and also aid digestion. More importantly, it is inexpensive and here in the UK, a fresh broccoli head cost less than £1. No excuse not to incorporate this vegetable into your diet. It is low in calorie, a cup of chopped florets is estimated to be about 33 calories. This recipe is perfect for other types of vegetables like chopped bell peppers, cauliflower, runner beans, broccoli tips, and many more. How To Make Instant Pot Steamed Broccoli

On scout’s honor, this is one of the easiest instant pot recipes ever, the only work here is cutting the broccoli head into florets and this also takes less than two minutes to accomplish. Step 1: Cut off the broccoli stem and cut out the florets. Make them the same sizes if you can manage so they cook evenly. Add the broccoli florets to a bowl or colander and rinse clean with cold water. Step 2: Add 1 cup of water to the IP inner pot and place the trivet in it if that is what you would be using and carefully add the florets on the trivet making sure it is not touching the bottom of the inner pot. If using a steamer basket, place the florets in the basket and place over the trivet in the instant pot Step 3: Turn on the instant pot, select manual or high pressure and set the timer to zero. It would look like this 00:00. Lock the lid securely and set the valve to sealing. Step 4: Remember no cooking time here, the instant pot would only build to pressure and beep. Carefully DO A QUICK RELEASE. Open the lid of the instant pot and carefully remove the steamer or use a thong if you used the trivet. Step 5: Season the steamed broccoli with salt and ground pepper and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese if using.
